Mostly NSFW! Hong Kong artist, cellar-fcp, does a lot of lovely digital paint work.  The faces tend to blend into the anime style of artwork, but there is a great sense of color and structure.  The colors blob together in that feel you often get with digital works. Thanks LikeCool.

I’m Starting To Feel We Stayed Together Update.

In my continued attempt to continue at continuity, I have altered my original blog post to display the timeline of this piece.  Ever since I started this particular drawing, I’ve disliked it.  I’ve started back up tonight by adding a much higher level of detail to the face and correcting a lot of the skewed dimensions.

Since I already have two other blogged works in progress, I can’t really say which I will feel like updating next. MYSTERY, INTRIGUE!

Beached Tanker.
I had been working up the courage to paint again for a long while.  I had gotten out of the habit and the fears and weaknesses build up as time goes to infinite.  I thought I’d start simple by re-imagining a previous work that I never quite enjoyed.
Originally, the posture was all wrong, all of the chains were loose, and the monster wasn’t really fighting against anything.  The pose was too compact and the legs were off.  Honestly, it looks more scared than intimidating.
So I attempted to angle the pose, move the feet, arms, and jaws into a more menacing pose, and had all the straps go behind him.  I also wanted to play around with the thirds rule and pastel coloring.  The original is at 12 x 18 so I hope to print it and put it amongst a collection of some older sketches.
I kind of see myself coming back to this again.  I’m currently intimidated to take it out of its roughness.  I worry the addition of details will reveal its flaws.

My Desktop Using BumpTop.
After my previous questions of how to organize my projects and artwork, I got some good feedback on tools and folder structures.  Then I did a 180, ignoring all of that advice, and decided to download BumpTop so I could organize my artwork in a giant random mess.
The ability to have a slew of inspirations and references slapped up on my digital ‘walls’ is wonderful.  All of my primary apps are clustered to the left.  Some photos from Tumblr are pulled down in the center.  My works in progress clustered to the right, with my willingness to work on them represented by their scale.
If you can let go of neat folders, and are okay with simply archiving the mess that is your desktop, BumpTop will work great for you.
BTW, if you are offended by the nipple, stop being so American.

More Cleaning.
Did I post this once already?  That’s the dangers of cleaning your old artwork.  I think the left three were for an on going project while the right was an experiment in a new style.  I like it though.  What’s a good way to organize digital artwork in folders?

Some Random Game Art.

Off of the Beatles: Rock Band game. This artist looks so familiar to me, I wish I could pin point it. Any suggestions anyone? It’s those little round eyes I love the most.

And Everybody Say I Remember Way Back When.
Mmm, brains.  I don’t know what I was going for here, but I wanted to do some graffiti work while sitting at my desk.  Young hearts, be free, tonight! TIME IS ON YOUR SIDE! *dances off into the starlight

Gunner Ahead: Redux.
I started redrawing one of my older pieces that I never actually finished.  This time around I plan to rely heavily on actual composition and color theory rules.  It’s about time I shaped up and actually learned the concepts.  Click the art for a reference to the original.  I’ll be posted the stages as I do them.  I realize I have two other pieces in the works, but I float around like a bee.
It’s hard to tell from here, but I started off by resizing the artwork to 11 x 17.  I placed the female along a one-third line, so the breast is a focal point (scandelous).  I have an idea for a further fleshed out town, with a giant boulder marking another focal point.  Also, I made sure this time that the wind of the hair and dress lined up.  The gun will be a Brunswick Rifle.

Mmmm, More Coffee Pleeeasseee
There is a kid I see around my apartment complex that looks just like this.  I need to print out this artwork and hand it to him.  I wonder how he’ll react…
Update: I updated the link to point to the drawing of this piece.
